Monmouth County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Planning Project
Over the past several months Monmouth County municipalities have participated in the development of a County-Wide Pre-Disaster Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan through the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management. The Union Beach Office of Emergency Management has been working with the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management in developing a Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan for the Borough of Union Beach. The plan development process will identify and characterize existing and potential future assets at risk; assess vulnerability to the most prevalent hazards; and evaluate and prioritize goals, objectives, and mitigation actions to reduce or avoid long-term vulnerability to most prevalent hazards. Once the overall county plan is approved by FEMA, participating municipalities are eligible to apply for mitigation project grants. These grants are used to implement the hazard Mitigation measures identified by the plan. A public hearing on the development of the mitigation plan for the Borough of Union Beach will be held in the near future.
