National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 16 – 22, 2010Bayshore Community Hospital Honors Local Emergency Management Services Volunteers
Holmdel, NJ – Bayshore Community Hospital’s Emergency Department recently presented one of its most prestigious honors, the Distinguished Service Award, to honorees who exemplify “distinguished service in the field of emergency medicine and community outreach.” The EMS awards dinner demonstrates Bayshore’s sincere appreciation of the continuous effort by the men and women who work tirelessly around the clock in the emergency response field. “The Bayshore organization enjoys the opportunity to thank those who have chosen to work in the field of emergency care,” explained Wendy Brown, vice president of patient care services. “We are truly lucky to have such dedicated team players working in collaboration with our Emergency Department taking such good care of our community.” More than 150 people attended the dinner held at Lakeside Manor in Hazlet, to honor area First Aid squads, as well as this year’s Distinguished Service Award recipients: Sharon and Jeff Magill, Keyport First Aid Squad; Lieutenant Michael Smith, Officers James Archinanco and Joseph Van Pelt, Sgt. Louis Torres, Detectives Edward Martinez and Eric Hernando, all from Holmdel Police Department; Sgt. Timothy Kelly, Special Officer Lisa Griffin, and Patrolman Jeffrey Beachman, all Union Beach Police Dept.; Chief Joe Rice, Ron Burkhardt, Jr. and Ron Burkhardt, Sr., all Union Beach Fire Dept.; Jackie Shipley, and Councilman, Vic Tuberion, both Union Beach First Aid; and, EMS Capt. Chris Tuberion, also an officer on the Union Beach Police Dept. Many of the area’s police officers are also emergency personnel volunteers and/or instructors in first responder training. Members of Bayshore Community Hospital’s Security Department were also recognized for distinguished service: Lorraine Govich, Christopher Duncan and Richard Belmonte. A Distinguished Service Award is given after nomination by the recipients’ peers in the field. This special awards dinner was held to recognize National Emergency Medical Services excellence, during National EMS Week.
